that Locals is 2 years old!  It’s kind of like having a new baby; time flies, and particular events seem quite distant and foggy. We have worked harder, yet have had more fun than we could have imagined. We can run on much less sleep than we ever thought possible.

We have had some notable accomplishments to date. To name a few:

  1. Within our first year we gained certification as an Official BC Culinary Tourism Destination from the BC Culinary Tourism Society, meeting strict standards for “Service, Value, Uniqueness, Quality, Integrity, Informative Experience, Environmental Sustainability, Local Favorite, and Authenticity”.

  2. We were written up quite nicely in the Globe and Mail this January (see article in the "In the news" section)and were featured in the newest Where to Eat in Canada. Also, the Frommer’s Travel Guide critic was just  in to dine, was quite impressed and intimated that we would be in their next Canadian edition (It’s supposed to be a secret. Here's hoping).

  3. We are ranked as the number two restaurant in the Valley on Trip Advisor.

  4. Ronald was a guest chef for the Cooking with BC’s Best Chefs Market Dinner Series at Granville Island presented by Edible BC Culinary Tourism this April.

  5. We have hosted eight wine pairing dinners, with the most elaborate being held in the fields of Tannadice Farm on Burns Road this past July. (Yes, one of those crazy hot days).

  6. We have been able to contribute to a few local charities such as YANA, Rotary Club, John Howard Society, L’Arche, Boys and Girls Club, Hospice and Dawn to Dawn.

  7. Eight of our team (servers and cooks) just earned their Level One Certification in Wine Fundamentals from the International Sommelier Guide.

  8. In April two of our cooking apprentices participated in the Provincial Junior Hot Cooking Competition and received silver and gold medals presented by Premier Gordon Campbell.

Take care and thank you for two wonderful years.

Wishing you a bountiful summer

Bon Appetit !
